The chaos unfolded around 2 a.m. outside Buford’s Backyard Beer Garden on historic Sixth Street, a bustling entertainment corridor filled with music venues and bars just miles from the University of Texas campus. What began as a typical Saturday night quickly descended into nightmare when a gunman opened fire on unsuspecting crowds.

According to Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis, the suspect drove past the establishment several times before stopping his SUV and firing a pistol from the window directly at people enjoying the patio and standing outside the bar. But the terror didn’t end there.

The shooter then parked his vehicle, grabbed a rifle, and continued his attack on foot, targeting pedestrians in the area before police officers rushed to the scene and fatally shot him.

FBI Joins Investigation

Alex Doran, acting agent in charge of the FBI’s San Antonio office, confirmed federal authorities are probing whether this attack constitutes terrorism due to “indicators” discovered on the gunman and inside his vehicle.

“It’s still too early to make a determination on that,” Doran cautioned, leaving investigators working around the clock to establish motive and connections.
