Instagram is rolling out exciting new features to help users connect with friends like never before. From the Instagram Map to Reels reposts and a dedicated Friends tab, these updates make sharing and discovering content more interactive and engaging.
1. Repost Your Favorite Reels & Posts
Instagram now lets you repost public Reels and feed posts, making it easier to share content you love. When you repost, it appears in your followers’ feeds and gets a dedicated tab on your profile.
Key Benefits:
Boost engagement by sharing viral Reels with your audience.
Credit original creators, helping them reach new followers.
Add personal notes to reposts for a customized touch.
How to Repost: Tap the repost icon, add a comment (optional), and share!
The new Instagram Map lets you share your location with select friends or explore trending spots through geo-tagged posts.
How the Instagram Map Works:
✅ Opt-in location sharing – Choose who sees your location (Close Friends, mutuals, or select people). ✅ Real-time updates – Your location refreshes when you open the app. ✅ Parental controls – Supervised teens’ location sharing can be managed by parents. ✅ Discover local content – See Stories, Reels, and posts from places near you.
Where to Find It: The Instagram Map is at the top of your DM inbox (currently available in the US, expanding globally soon).
3. Friends Tab in Reels: See What Your Circle Loves
The Friends tab in Reels shows:
Content your friends liked, reposted, or commented on.
Recommendations from Blends (shared Reels playlists).
Controls to hide your activity or mute specific users.
How to Access It: Tap the “Friends” tab at the top of Reels.

Instagram is doubling down on social discovery, helping users: ✔ Stay connected with friends through shared interests. ✔ Explore new places via the Instagram Map. ✔ Support creators by amplifying their reach with reposts.
