Former “Harry Potter” star Emma Watson has been disqualified from driving for six months after being caught speeding in Oxford, England.

LONDON, UKEmma Watson, the beloved British actress known for her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, has been banned from driving for six months following a speeding violation. The 35-year-old actress and activist was caught driving her blue Audi at 38 mph in a 30-mph zone last July.

According to reports from PA Media, Watson did not appear at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court for the hearing, where she was fined £1,044 ($1,400) and received an automatic six-month driving ban. The court also handed down a similar penalty to her former Harry Potter co-star, Zoë Wanamaker, who played Madam Hooch in the franchise.

Parallel Cases: Emma Watson and Zoë Wanamaker Face Driving Bans

Watson’s case was swiftly followed by Wanamaker’s hearing, where the veteran actress was penalized for driving 46 mph in a 40-mph zone in Berkshire last August. Both actresses already had nine penalty points on their licenses before these latest offenses.

Under UK law, accumulating 12 or more penalty points within three years results in an automatic six-month driving disqualification. District Judge Arvind Sharma added three more points to each of their licenses, triggering the ban.

Emma’s Career Beyond “Harry Potter”

Since her rise to fame in the Harry Potter series, Emma Watson has become a prominent figure in film, activism, and academia. She has taken on leading roles in major films such as Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and Greta Gerwig’s Little Women.

Watson is also widely recognized for her feminist advocacy, serving as a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador and launching the HeForShe campaign. Despite her recent driving ban, she remains a highly influential public figure.

CNN has reached out to Emma Watson’s representatives for comment, while Wanamaker’s team declined to respond.

This unusual legal coincidence brings together two Harry Potter alumni, both now temporarily off the road—proving that even magical actors must follow muggle traffic laws.
